MiFinity at online casinos in Latvia
MiFinity is an electronic wallet accepted by international online casinos for deposits and withdrawals. To use the method, you need to register an account on the MiFinity website, complete identity verification, and top up the wallet balance via card or bank transfer. Once funded, money transfers to the casino instantly, whilst withdrawals are processed within several working days.
MiFinity does not hold a Latvian licence from the State Revenue Service of Latvia (VID), nor do most casinos featured in international rankings. Your bank may decline payments to unlicensed gambling sites — more on that below.
What is MiFinity
MiFinity is a payment system with an electronic wallet function. You register an account, top it up from a bank card or account, then use the wallet balance to pay online, including at online casinos. The company also issues MiFinity prepaid cards (virtual and physical) linked to the wallet.
The service operates internationally. The interface is available in English; Russian language support depends on browser settings and region. For players in Latvia, MiFinity is a way to separate gaming transactions from your main bank account and control your budget through a separate balance.
How MiFinity works at casinos
Wallet registration
Open the MiFinity website and create an account: provide your email address, choose a password, and select the wallet currency (euros, US dollars, and others). Confirm your email via the link sent to you. At this stage the account is active, but full use requires verification.
Identity verification
To top up the wallet and withdraw funds, upload a scan or photograph of your passport (or ID card) and proof of address — a utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months — in your MiFinity account. Verification takes from several hours to two working days. Without verification, transaction limits are restricted.
Topping up your MiFinity wallet
Once your documents are approved, fund your balance using one of the methods:
- Visa or MasterCard bank card;
- bank transfer (SEPA for European accounts);
- cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether);
- other electronic wallets, if available in your region.
For cards and SEPA transfers, ensure the account is in your name — MiFinity does not accept third-party payments. The fee depends on the funding method; the amount is shown in your account before you confirm the transaction.
Depositing at a casino
Log into the cashier of your chosen online casino and select MiFinity from the list of deposit methods. Enter the deposit amount, authorise in your MiFinity wallet (username and password or PIN code if you've set one), and confirm the payment. Funds are debited from the wallet balance and credited to your gaming account instantly.
Withdrawing funds
To withdraw winnings, select MiFinity again in the withdrawals section, enter the amount, and confirm the request. The casino will process the request within the timeframe stated in the site's terms (typically one to five working days), after which the money arrives in your MiFinity wallet balance. From there you can transfer it to your bank card or account.
Note: many casinos require withdrawals to be made using the same method used for the deposit. If you deposited via MiFinity, you will only be able to withdraw to that same wallet.
Specific considerations for Latvia
Casinos that accept MiFinity typically operate under international (offshore) licences — Curaçao, Malta, or other jurisdictions. They do not hold a Latvian licence from the State Revenue Service of Latvia (VID). Since 1 April 2026, VID has assumed all gambling supervision functions in the country, including maintaining the register of licensed operators and the list of blocked sites.
Latvian law prohibits participation in interactive gambling organised in Latvia without a VID licence. The fine for a player ranges from €70 to €350. You may play on international sites without a Latvian licence at your own risk: the regulator may block access to such a casino, and your bank is entitled to decline payments to unlicensed gambling sites.
When using MiFinity, you first transfer money to the wallet and only then to the casino. If your bank in Latvia (for example, Swedbank, SEB, Citadele, or Luminor) blocks direct transactions to gambling sites, topping up the wallet may succeed if the bank does not identify the recipient as a gambling service. However, there are no guarantees — bank policies change.
The VID register of self-excluded persons (voluntary ban on gambling participation) applies only to licensed Latvian sites. If you are on the register, international casinos without a Latvian licence do not have access to that list and will not block your account automatically.

Advantages and disadvantages of MiFinity
| Advantages | Disadvantages |

| Wallet can be topped up by card, bank transfer, or cryptocurrency | Fees for topping up the wallet and withdrawing to a card depend on the chosen method |

| Supports multiple currencies, including euros and US dollars | MiFinity interface is in English; Russian language support is limited |
Points to note
- Identity verification is mandatory. Without uploading documents, limits on deposits and withdrawals will be minimal. Plan time for verification before you need to withdraw a large sum.
- Fees. MiFinity charges a commission for topping up the wallet (the amount depends on the method) and for withdrawing funds to a card or bank account. See exact amounts in your account before the transaction.
- Withdrawal time. Money from the casino to the MiFinity wallet does not arrive instantly — the casino processes the request over several days. You then need to initiate a transfer from the wallet to your card, adding another one to two days. Total time from withdrawal request to receiving money on your card is around a week.
- Name matching. MiFinity requires the wallet, the bank card used for top-ups, and the casino account to be registered in the same person's name. Attempting to use someone else's card or wallet will result in payment decline or account suspension.
- Risk of bank blocking. Latvian banks may refuse a transfer if they recognise that the money is going to a gambling site or a service linked to one. MiFinity is an intermediary, not camouflage: the bank may check the payment purpose.
- No protection from the Latvian regulator. Disputes with an international casino or with MiFinity itself are resolved under the rules of the jurisdiction in which the company is registered. VID does not consider complaints about unlicensed sites.
Alternative methods for players in Latvia: Skrill, Neteller, Revolut, Paysera, and cryptocurrency payments via the PayCryptos gateway. A comparison of methods is in the payment methods section.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to pay tax on winnings when using MiFinity?
Gambling tax in Latvia is paid by the operator, not the player — the rate is 15% from 2026. This rule applies to licensed Latvian casinos. International sites without a Latvian licence do not pay tax into the Latvian budget, and Latvian law does not impose an obligation on the player to declare income from gambling. For clarification of tax implications in your situation, consult a tax adviser.
Can I top up MiFinity with another person's card?
No. MiFinity only accepts top-ups from cards and accounts registered in the wallet holder's name. Attempting to use someone else's card will result in payment decline and may lead to your MiFinity account being blocked.
How long does it take to withdraw money from a casino to MiFinity?
The casino processes the withdrawal request in one to five working days — the exact timeframe is stated in the site's terms. Once approved, the money arrives in your MiFinity wallet balance. To transfer it from there to a bank card takes a further one to two working days. Total time is around a week.
What should I do if my bank declined a MiFinity wallet top-up?
Contact your bank and clarify the reason for the decline. If the bank blocked the transaction because of a gambling policy, try an alternative method to top up the wallet — SEPA transfer, cryptocurrency, or another card if you have one. Note that there is no guarantee of bypassing the block.
Remember: gambling is intended for entertainment. Play responsibly, set limits, and do not wager money you cannot afford to lose. Play is permitted from age 18.
